Bif Naked is a celebrated and notorious performer in music, TV, film, and dance, and a tireless advocate and Humanitarian. Orphaned in India, emancipated by punk rock, and empowered by surviving breast cancer, kidney failure, heart surgery, divorce, and surviving as a Woman in The Entertainment Industry for twenty-five years, Bif has transcended any and all obstacles placed in her path to become one of the world's most unique, recognizable and beloved icons. It is because Bif is such a tremendous performer and musician, that she is able to seamlessly and successfully explore and record other mediums, like writing, painting, choreography, and of course- other genres of music.
Inspired by life and experiences, Bif's writing is at the forefront and has become a tool for her advocacy. "We must continue to raise awareness and keep going." When not touring, Bif works as an activist, is recording a new record, and is anticipating the release of her first book (her juicy memoirs) through Harper Collins Publishers.
For the entirety of her unbelievable career, Bif has documented her journey in a deeply personal way -- covering topics that allow her truths to be a source of empowerment and in alliance with her dedicated fans. Bif believes in everyone's ability to move forward, taking care of each other, and getting stronger together. "I believe in the goodness of people. I love people so much, I am grateful for each person I have ever met, from the guru in the street, to the dude in the mosh pit, to the patients I meet in the cancer wards. Everyone is my Teacher." When people ask why her work is so personal in nature, she answers it this way: "Most artists, whether visual, poets or performers, tend to put their shame, hurt, lust, hopes and wishes into their art. I'm no different; all of my feelings pour out on the page. We can all relate to each other, I'm convinced of this, so if i write a song about my shame, I'm not self conscious about it, because I know there is at least one other person in the room who has gone through the same thing."
It has been five years since the release of her last full-length studio record, "The Promise", a candid look at her journey through breast cancer, and an album Bif naked made while in chemo and radiation treatments. Bif Naked also released an acoustic record, "Bif Naked Forever: Acoustic Hits and Other Delights" in 2013. Since that time, she has remained committed to her relentless schedule, including having proudly sat on the City of Vancouver's Women's Advisory Committee, volunteering weekly with vulnerable people who ask for her and writing a blog for the Huffington Post. Bif Naked was a contributing writer to The Globe & Mail's Health columns.
Bif's work as a public speaker has taken her to conferences centred around a wide variety of topics, including women's empowerment, wellness, raw food and cancer. The latter is not only a topic personal to her own breast-cancer journey, it is clearly dear to her heart. "I most enjoy speaking directly to health care professionals regarding patient advocacy, and to patients and families who are surviving and thriving. They are all my mentors- they inspire me. If i could do that full-time, I would. Advocacy and Service- It's my calling" Many of her life experiences continue to astonish audiences around the world, as Bif's storytelling style intoxicates the listener. But also, her lyrics provide the guide map to her life's journey.
An unforgettable woman, performer, and activist, Bif Naked leaves everyone feeling like they have been kissed and hugged, and as though they, too, are wearing her Tango Shoes to dance through life!
